OXVA Xlim Pro Review - Another Glimpse Of Perfection!

Introduction:

Greetings, vape enthusiasts!

Today, we are thrilled to bring you an in-depth review of the highly anticipated OXVA Xlim Pro.  We stumbled upon a truly exceptional blog that we couldn't resist sharing with all the vape fans out there. So, without further ado, let's dive into this OXVA Xlim Pro review and discover why it's creating such a buzz in the vaping community.

I have been looking forward to this – I have in my hands the OXVA Xlim Pro!

It is no secret the love I have for every member of the Xlim family. In fact I have reviewed every model so far, starting with the XLIM V1/V2XLIM SEXLIM SQ and the XLIM C.

And all the Xlim kits are still used in rotation daily by me! The coil life and flavour raises them way above any other pod kit range in my eyes.

My Xlim Collection! Left To Right: Xlim Pro, Xlim Pro, Xlim V2 Anniversary Edition, Xlim SE, Xlim C and front Xlim SQ

So I think I can say I pretty much know this range inside out since my first review in January 2022!

Will the Oxva Xlim Pro keep me smiling? Or will it all end in tears?

What Can We Expect From The OXVA Xlim Pro…

I love how OXVA listen to their customers. For instance the V1 Xlim was poo. Responding to the feedback, the V2 device and pods were quickly made available, correcting all of the issues with the V1 kit.

Now the XLIM range has kept evolving and the Pro version has some great updates.

The first main update which has made me happy is the pods.

These still come in the same 0.6ohm, 0.8ohm and 1.2ohm variants but feature a top fill port. The previous pods whilst being excellent did suffer from fill port covers that sometimes broke and leaked.

Even better is the fact this kit is still compatible with the previous V2 pods which are used in all versions except the Xlim C (which has removable coil pods).

The device has been upgraded to a higher output of 30W max. You can adjust the output and view your data on the small screen provided.

Another addition is the pretty RGB light located under the screen.

The Xlim Pro is draw activated or you can use the fire button to manually fire if that is what you prefer. Plus there is an airflow adjustment slider located on the side.

The battery capacity has also been upgraded to 1000mAh and the USB Type C charging system allows a 2A charge rate.

There are 8 colours to choose from: Black Carbon, Black Gold, Gleamy Blue, Gleamy Cyan, Gleamy Grey, Gleamy Green, Gleamy Pink and Gleamy Red.

Thank you to OXVA for sending these for review. I will report back honestly on my experience with the devices provided.

OXVA Xlim Pro Design and Build Quality

I received 2 of the kits in the Black Gold and Gleamy Green colours.

The outer box has a clear window to view the device design. A pull out tray holds the device with the 0.6ohm pod installed and a separate small cardboard box contains the spare pod, Lanyard and charging cable.

The instructions are OK. They have a diagram of all the components, specifications, how to fill, how to operate and fault protections. This has been crammed onto one page per language though.

If you are struggling to read these you can download the PDF of the User Manual Here and you can of course zoom in to help with clarity.

The Lanyard looks to be of good quality, however it came with just a clasp on the end with nothing to attach it to?

But the other kit contained a Silicone ring to install on the device. So I think one kit was sent with the wrong Lanyard!

OXVA Xlim Pro Mod

The finish is different on both devices.

Each device has a Metallic frame which runs around the top, sides and base of the mod.

The front and rear have the decorative panels.

The Black Gold version has a Black Carbon Fibre effect with Gold Metal edges. You can actually even feel the Carbon Fibre texture!

Whereas the Gleamy Green version has a Holographic stripe effect and Silver Metal Edges.

At the base of the front is the OXVA Logo and the rear is completely plain.

One side features the fire / adjustment button which only protrudes around 1mm and of course you can lock this to prevent accidental firing.

On the opposite side is the “Xlim Pro” logo which is delicately etched in and looks classy.

This side also houses the slide airflow adjustment which is stiff enough to move, it should not adjust by itself. Again the knob of this adjuster protrudes only 1mm so should not get caught on things.

The base has the required Legal logos etched in and the battery capacity. You will also find the USB Type C port here too which I have had no issues with.

It will stand up fine but it is worth noting this iteration of the Xlim is quite a bit heavier (66g compared to the 46g of the Xlim SE) so it will make a bit of a thud if toppled over.

Inside the pod port you will find 2 magnets and 2 spring loaded electrical connections. It is not a deep compartment so if you do need to clean inside it this will be easy.

I did find a bit of a wobble with the pod installed, but it is still held in firmly so no worries about it falling out!

Screen

The screen is concealed within a Black panel and it is invisible until activated.

Measuring the size of the actual display I find it to be 10mm x 5mm.

On the left is the output setting in Watts – this is the largest size text on the screen and therefore easy to see.

Below that is the coil resistance in Ohms so you can see which pod you have installed.

On the right side is a battery icon to display charge remaining, the “W” symbol (for Watts) and the Padlock icon. When padlock is closed the fire button is locked. When padlock is open the fire button is in use.

Below this is the puff count which you can also reset.

Under the screen is a breathing LED indicator light.

You can adjust the lighting effect of the LED and I went with the multicolour breathing effect which looks amazing!

You can cycle between

  • One colour moving light (displays battery charge remaining)
  • One colour fixed breathing light (displays battery charge remaining)
  • LED off
  • Multicolour moving light (does not display battery charge)

Below is a video showing me switching between different lighting modes.

OXVA Xlim Pro Pod

Apart from the fill port location the pod is exactly the same as the V2 pod used on other Xlim kits.

Left = Xlim V3 pod, Right = Xlim V2 pod

The base is exactly the same with 2 magnets and 2 contact areas. There are also 2 airflow holes which means the pod can be installed either way around. The pod resistance and recommended power levels are printed on the base too.

Although darkly tinted, the e-liquid level is always visible, in fact even when installed in the mod as the coil base sits level with the top of the mod.

You get the same comfortable “Duck Bill” style mouthpiece which is always a pleasure to use.

The fill port cover is located on the side of the pod and when you do your first fill it can be a bit of a puzzle as to how to access the port.

Simply lift up the bottom edge of the port cover and it will lift up to reveal the port. You can also swing the cover out of the way too.

It might be a bit fiddly to open if you have short fingernails as it is one you will need to prise up. But it is far easier to close than the V2 pods which I found sometimes leaked if you couldn’t push the cover fully in.

The fill port size is generous at 5mmx3mm and I had no issues with small bottle nozzles when filling.

OXVA Xlim Pro Quick Start Guide

The kit comes with the 0.6ohm pod installed. Make sure to fill this before removing the isolator sticker at the base of the pod. If you vape before filling this will burn out the coil and the pod will need to be binned.

Some information will be displayed on the screen but also the RGB Light indicator will change colour to inform of device conditions at a glance. However if you have a different LED mode activated this may not be the case.

You will need to fill, charge and set up the device to get going – I will guide you through the steps below!

OXVA Xlim Pro Basic Operation

  • Power On/Off = press the fire button 5 times.
  • Vaping = either press the fire button to manually fire or you can simply inhale on the mouthpiece for the auto draw fire.
  • Battery indicator = the screen will display the battery charge remaining.
  • Battery indicator when charging = The LED will cycle through Red, Orange, Blue and then Green. When fully charged the LED will switch off.
  • Lock / Unlock fire button = press the fire button 4 times.
  • Adjust output = press the fire button 3 times to enter adjustment mode. Each press of the fire button will increase the output. When you have reached the maximum output it will return to 5W and you can start again. When the output you require is displayed on the screen stop pressing and leave the device until it returns to the main screen.
  • Adjust airflow = move the slide switch on the side of the mod to increase / decrease the incoming airflow to your preference.
  • Lighting Effect = press the fire button twice to adjust the lighting effect.
  • Puff Count Clear = press the fire button 7 times

OXVA Xlim Pro Protections

  • Low battery – The Red light will flash 10 times and the device will cut out until recharged.
  • Short circuit / too low resistance – The Red light will flash 3 times. Clean pod and device connectors, or replace pod. If fault persists there may be an issue with the device itself.
  • High temperature – The Red light will flash 5 times and the device will stop working until it has cooled down.
  • Over time – if you vape for longer than 8 seconds the Blue light will flash 3 times and the fire will cut out. You can continue vaping by inhaling or pressing the fire button again.

How To Charge The Battery

The charging rate is specified as 2A.

  • Using the included USB type C cable connect the small end into the USB port on the mod.

  • Connect the large end of the cable into a suitable USB outlet.
  • The LED will cycle through Red, Orange, Blue and Green. When fully charged the LED will switch off.

The charging time for me using a 2A mains plug was 35 minutes.

How To Fill the OXVA Xlim Pro Pod

  • You don’t need to remove the pod to refill. I removed it to make it easier to take a photo!
  • Lift up the cover of the fill port and add e-liquid through the port.

  • Watch the e-liquid level through the clear side of the pod.

  • Replace the fill port cover firmly.
  • If this is the first fill allow the pod to stand for 10-15 mins to allow the e-liquid to soak into the coil. This is called Priming and is a very important step. If not fully primed you could burn the coil out and your throat lining in the process!

How Does the OXVA Xlim Pro Perform?

I used my own e-liquid mix which is 50/50 PG/VG made from IVG Bubblegum Concentrate at 20% ratio. This is quite high a flavour ratio as I prefer plenty of flavour, but sadly this means it can be a coil killer sometimes. But the OXVA Xlim pods usually have no issues at all with it.

I add nic salt to approx 6mg strength.

If any of these terms are over your head – have a read of our handy guides below!

OXVA Xlim Pro 0.8ohm Pod

I love this pod!!

It gives exactly the same flavour I rave about with the V2 pods but with the addition of much easier filling!

The flavour didn’t fully kick in until the 2nd fill – so be patient – because it will completely reward your patience!

You get all the rich complexities of your e-liquid and a warm vapour with excellent throat hit.

The device selected 16W as the optimum output and to be honest I didn’t change this at all as it was spot on!

I am on my 18th fill and the flavour is still banging! I will try to update how many fills this pod survives!

OXVA Xlim Pro 0.6ohm Pod

The mod selected 22W as the optimum output and I didn’t alter this at all as it was perfect!

This is slightly more “aggressive” than the 0.8ohm pod, you can feel the increase in output.

There is a slightly warmer vape, with a fierce throat hit.

You will also notice a small increase in vapour output in comparison with the 0.8ohm.

I still stand by the 0.8ohm being my favourite, but the 0.6ohm is a lot smoother than the OXVA Xlim C 0.6ohm which can be a bit ferocious at times!

If you use lower nicotine strengths this pod is ideal, if you are using over say 10mg you might find this a bit throat hurty!

The flavour is definitely mighty with this pod and believe it or not – the battery life does not suffer massively from the lower resistance and higher output than the 0.8ohm.

So far after 10 refills the flavour is still excellent!

Airflow

I use a rating system for airflow – 0= fully closed and 10= like breathing unrestricted fresh air!

On fully closed this is about a 1 – not fully shut off as you are still able to vape, but it gets hot and not much flavour.

Whereas fully open is still great for MTL vapers (it is the setting I preferred) and you could also manage a decent RDL vape too. I would say this rates around 4.5.

Usually on MTL devices I have the airflow in the mid position, but I find the Xlim range have quite a tight airflow and I end up opening it fully.

Leaks?

Not a drop or a dribble at all from either pod! The top fill V3 port design eliminates the leak from the fill port you sometimes get on the V2 pods.

Mod Performance

The versatility of being able to adjust the output makes me happy. It is a bit fiddly as you have one button and different combinations of clicks to make changes.

However as the device selected the perfect wattage for each pod automatically I had no need to faff about making alterations.

You can adjust the LED output mode and I opted for the pretty multicolour LED.

I found the screen clear to read and you can even reset the puff counter. These little touches make life easier when reviewing!

When the battery charge level drops to one bar there is a significant decrease to output which often happens on vapes. After this it is not long before the device conks out and needs recharging.

I love the fact you can lock the fire button as I used this entirely on auto draw mode. The auto draw is fast and reliable!

Battery Life

This will always rely on your own vaping habits and the output selected. I am a very heavy vaper so this must be considered. For a guide these are my timings…

With the 0.8ohm pod I got around 190 puffs (4 tank fulls) and 4 to 5 hours of vaping.

With the 0.6ohm pod I got around 175 puffs and 4 to 5 hours again of vaping.

It might be also worth mentioning I had the LED set to a Multicolour setting – so I am not sure if this impacted on the battery timings.

Pros

  • Stunning finish on both devices
  • Top fill port a lot easier to access
  • No leaks
  • Epic flavour that I expect from the Xlim
  • Quick charge time of only 35 minutes despite being 1000mAh!
  • LED indicator and Screen are excellent
  • Compatible with other Xlim devices and pods (Except Xlim C)
  • Device default output settings are spot on – no need to adjust!
  • Great airflow adjustment from super tight MTL to a restricted DTL
  • Both pods are excellent performers – rare!

Cons

  • The wrong lanyard was sent with the Black Gold kit – but these are samples so this shouldn’t occur on retail versions.
  • Slightly heavier than previous models
  • Pod was slightly wobbly – but didn’t fall out.

Final Review Verdict

Yep I have another addition to my Xlim collection!

All in all the OXVA Xlim Pro is a beauty!

All the flavour I love from the Xlim pods coupled with more versatility and compatibility.

I used both pods on my older Xlims (and vice versa) and they all worked perfectly – ideal for me with a drawer full of Xlim V2 pods!

The top filling is so much easier as I do struggle sometimes with the older V2 side fill pods as the port cover can be fiddly.

So far the coil life has proved to be as excellent as previous Xlims and I love the fact you can adjust the output, airflow and LED effects. The battery charging was super quick at only 35 minutes – I have devices with half the battery capacity which take a lot longer!

No serious moans really here, just a wobbly pod and the fact this has a bit more weight than previous kits. Neither are a deal breaker for me!

Normally I would mark down the fiddly 1 button output adjustment, but the default output the device selects when you install the pod means I didn’t have to adjust the output at all!

Plus you can lock the fire button and use the excellent auto draw all the time!
